Our Project: Urgyen Kater Rabgye Ling School
Building the school
Starting as a school for about 500 students in the beginning, the property is meant to grow into a full-service educational institute including a college for advanced academic and postgraduate Buddhist studies.
Studying there
Urgyen Kater Rabgye Ling is going to provide excellent and modern educational training, both at school as well as university level, with a specific focus in Advanced Tibetan-Buddhist Studies.

Shaping future through education
Envisioned is a modern educational institution focusing on primary and secondary education as well as an Institute for Higher Tibetan-Buddhist Studies (Shedra) at the same time providing home and shelter for its students and empowering children and young adults from underprivileged families of the Himalayan region and the Tibetan settlements
In 2018 Pema Rinpoche was entrusted by His Holiness Karma Kuchen Rinpoche with 23,000 sqmt of land located in the Tibetan Settlment in Karnataka, South India. The land was once given by the Indian Government to the Tibetans and was subsequently entrusted to the Heads of most renowned Tibetan Monasteries in order to support the Tibetans living in exile. The vision is to build a school and at the same time to help the local Tibetan community as well as poor children from the Himalaya region.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama emphasized that any community initiative in the Tibetan Settlement would be of great benefit. HH Dalai Lama, HH Penor Rinpoche, HH Karma Kuchen Rinpoche, and other great Buddhist Masters have strongly encouraged this project and have given their blessings for Urgyen Kater Rabgye Ling.

Development through empowering local communities
Through the transforming force of education our work is targeted at building up a solid foundation for successful and meaningful lives of young people in this challenging modern age. We care for each student and his/her unique individual needs. Part of our focus is on establishing good relationship with the parents and to enable our students to utilize their full potential by providing them with a sound education. Moreover it is of great importance to us to continuously involve the local community in our activities in the Tibetan settlement.
Golden Bridge provides health care and medical provision for elderly and sick people (vaccination station, outpatient treatments, etc.) and engages in improving the local infrastructure. The grounds of Urgyen Kater Rabgye Ling always welcome the local community and cross-generational dialogue is actively encouraged. Lectures and cultural events will be held on a regular basis in order to promote a steady exchange as a multidimensional approach to learning and empowering the community. In the medium term we wish to provide a home for elderly people by establishing an old age home.
